Although Graced by Goddess Wax & Beauty Parlor originated from a place to empower women, this business stands to empower all people through enhancing natural beauty and building confidence through self-care. Self-care is genderless and is something that should be practiced by everybody. All are welcome in our space and our number one priority is to make every guest as comfortable as possible. We are so excited to join you on this self-care journey and we look forward to seeing you soon! ~ Business location & where to park ~ We are located on the direct corner of Park Ave & Alexander Street, with the physical address being 258 Alexander Street in Rochester, NY. We are located in Elevated Beauty Salon. When you arrive, our building should be a large blue Victorian/Colonial-type looking home with a very large front porch. There is a small parking lot right next to the fence behind our building, or there is free parking on the street. ~ Waxing procedures and information ~ Here at Graced by Goddess Wax and Beauty Parlor, we use only the highest quality of wax and waxing materials. For our body waxing services, we use a high grade hard wax. Hard wax adheres to the hair on your skin, allowing for the least painful waxing experience possible. Hard wax is not removed with a strip, as it hardens around the hair, making for easy and gentle removal. On certain parts of the body we will use soft wax as opposed to hard wax, of which is removed with a muslin strip. When booking your wax appointment, ensure that you read every service description provided to make the best decision on what service you would like to receive. When booking a body waxing appointment, make sure you arrive to the appointment with at least 2 weeks of hair growth in the area receiving treatment. If you are on accutane or haven't been on accutane for less than a year, you are unable to receive waxing until it has been at least a full year since last taking Accutane or similar medications. If you are booking a wax for an area that you actively use or have used Retinol, Retin-A, Tretinoin, or similar products, we cannot wax that area for at least a year from discontinued use, or until you get clearance from a dermatologist or a doctor to receive waxing. The day before your appointment, make sure you: - Avoid caffeine and alcohol - Exfoliate the area receiving treatment - Do not shave or trim hair in the area receiving treatment - Drink plenty of water The day of your appointment, make sure you: - Take a shower/clean the area receiving treatment, as well as exfoliate thoroughly - Avoid caffeine and alcohol - Do not shave or trim hair in the area receiving treatment - Drink plenty of water - Wear loose clothing - Arrive early or on time for your appointment Hydration is key to having the least painful waxing experience. People who tend to drink caffeinated drinks and/or alcohol the day leading up to their appointment or the day of their appointment tend to experience more discomfort. This is because caffeine and alcohol dehydrates the body, making the skin hold onto the hairs a little bit more aggressively than it does when somebody is well hydrated. Waxing weakens the hair cells, eventually killing them off. This is because we are ripping the hair out from the root, as opposed to shaving the top layer of hair down to the surface of your skin. The first appointment receiving waxing will always be the most uncomfortable appointment, however; when staying on top of a 4 week routine visit to maintain the area, waxing becomes less and less uncomfortable over time. The pain with waxing decreases over time because we are weakening those hair follicles, making the roots grow back less strong and resistant, resulting in less density to the hair root being removed from the skin. After you begin to consistently receive waxing services, you will notice your hair start to change in texture and diameter, making your body hair much more manageable and far easier to live with. Coarse hairs tend to change to soft, fine hair after a couple of visits. Your skin health will also greatly improve in the area receiving treatment, making waxing perfect for any individual who has severe skin sensitivities when they try to use a razor. Using a razor may shave any exposed hair on the surface of your skin, but it also shaves the top layer of your skin off, leaving room for lots of irritation to occur. Shaving typically causes hair to grow back blunt, making the grow-out period much more uncomfortable, painful, and even itchy. Razors also carry bacteria that can infect or irritate the skin when it's in a vulnerable state. This is what makes the switch to waxing such a great idea, because there is a significantly decreased risk of developing ingrown hairs and any possible opportunity for skin irritation is eliminated. Waxing slows down hair growth significantly, making body hair maintenance a once a month venture. Waxing is perfect for any individual who has unwanted body hair and spends way too much time trying to keep their hair away. Waxing only needs to be maintained on a four week basis, which is a big step up from the every day or every other day maintenance that comes with shaving. Waxing leaves you hair free until around the 2nd week after your initial wax. For anybody who is interested in receiving waxing and may be pregnant or on their period with the concern that their state of being will restrict them from getting waxed, you can absolutely receive waxing! Neither pregnancy or periods restrict you from getting waxed. Many women get waxed up until the day before they go into labor. We recommend beginning wax treatments at the start of your pregnancy, as it will be much easier to get your hair into a state of being weakened and easy to wax before it may become difficult to lay on your back in your final trimester. This will allow us to prevent you from being in uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time during waxing sessions later on in your pregnancy, as the hair will come out quick and easy. For any genital waxing while on your period, come to your appointment with a clean tampon in. We can work around a tampon with no problem, just be aware that you may experience the area feeling a little more tender due to your hormone levels and increased blood flow in your brazilian area. For any individual who may be wondering about what age somebody must be to start receiving waxing treatments, waxing can be done at any age that unwanted hair growth begins. Waxing is completely safe and can be performed on anybody of any age within reason. A parent or legal guardian with children under 18 must be present on the premises and be able to provide proper identification, as well as sign a release form. This is a requirement to keep our space as safe as possible. *Disclosure: if you are dissatisfied with any wax service, you must reach out within 3 days after your scheduled appointment. The body's regenerative hair cycle is different for everybody, and around 7 days after your wax you may see a few hairs grow in. This is absolutely normal and at no fault of the waxer. If there is any hair that you find immediately after your scheduled appointment or the day after, we would be more than happy to have you come back in for us to fix what has caused dissatisfaction at no extra cost. We take extreme pride in the quality of our work and strive to make our guests happy.* ~ Keratin lash lifting procedures and information ~ A keratin lash lift is a professional treatment that lifts, curls, and boosts your natural lashes in an instant. Keratin lash lifts combine a keratin treatment and a lash lift procedure to nourish and curl the natural lashes simultaneously. Keratin is a strengthening protein that is naturally found produced in our bodies and is crucial to the health of our nails and hair. Lash lifts are like a perm for your lashes in the sense that it gently breaks down the bonds in the lash, allowing us to then rebuild the bonds into a perfect curl. Lash lifts provide a mascara-type appeal that lasts 6-8 weeks, making it perfect for the low maintenance enhancement lovers out there. You can wear mascara 24 hours after your initial appointment to enhance the effect of your lash lift if desired. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns in regards to any of our services and we will respond in a timely manner.
